Course Outline: Generative AI for Business Applications

Introduction

As artificial intelligence increases in importance in the workplace, it becomes ever more important to keep up with the latest developments. Tools like ChatGPT may seem nice to know in the current work environment, but it won't be long before these tools are as essential as Microsoft Word and Email.

This one-day workshop shows you how to integrate AI into your workflow for immediate results. Complete documents faster, become a better writer, master ideation techniques and customise ChatGPT to become the ultimate personal assistant.

Participants need no prior experience with AI. All tools used and demonstrated in the workshop are available for free.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Control the output of ChatGPT with smart prompting techniques
  • Use ChatGPT to improve and enhance your writing skills
  • Write reports, proposals, slides and other documents with the assistance of ChatGPT

Course Outline

Module 1: AI and ChatGPT Basics

Most people have a very limited understanding of how AI works, even if they use it every day! In the introductory segment, we will explain basic AI concepts in a clear way, cutting through the jargon. We will also look at some of the mistakes untrained people make when writing with AI and the issues that this can cause.

  • How does ChatGPT work? What can you do with it?
  • What is AI? Is it actually intelligent?
  • Limitations and misconceptions of ChatGPT
  • Common mistakes people make with ChatGPT
  • Some AI best practices

Module 2: Workshop - Writing Assisted by AI

We will show how a series of daily writing tasks can be enhanced through the use of AI, ensuring that we get good quality output through smart prompting.

  • Using ChatGPT to enhance and strengthen a text
  • Using ChatGPT to assist with a range of business emails
  • Techniques for controlling ChatGPT's output - the notes technique, the PARTS technique, the ask-me technique, the modelling technique, re-evaluation techniques
  • Using ChatGPT for ideation
  • Using ChatGPT for research with cited sources
  • Using ChatGPT to write with templates

Module 3: Workshop – Personalisation and working with data

The next session moves on to more advanced techniques, such as personalising ChatGPT to save time and give better results. We will look at how ChatGPT can work with data and explore the concept of 'interrogating documents'. Finally, we will apply these techniques to a business simulation, a product pitch.

Module 4: Multimedia Workshop

The final workshop looks at creating multimedia using ChatGPT or other free AI apps. With all of these skills, participants will be able to create viral social posts without the need for graphic designers or sound/video editors. These techniques can be used to enhance slides or create short promotional videos.
