In this session, participants learn presentation basics, such as voice projection and speaking at the correct speed, tone and volume. Participants will then deliver their first practice presentation. Finally, the trainer will demonstrate how ChatGPT can be used to generate ideas, language and concepts to improve a presentation.
Participants will explore ways to make a presentation more interesting with a focus on impactful language. Participants will then learn vocal techniques such as sentence stress and 'spoken punctuation' to improve their enunciation and emphasis. In this session, they will also analyse a TED talk to see what lessons they can take away from it.
In the third session, participants will explore positive and negative body language. We will also answer the question, 'Why do people get nervous when presenting?' and explore ways to negate nervousness.
For the final part of Day 1, participants will deliver their second practice presentation - a narrative presentation. They will receive feedback from the trainer and their peers.
In the first session of Day 2, participants learn how to structure various types of presentations, including pitches, persuasive talks and product demonstrations. They will learn how to put together an introduction for a short or longer talk and how to conclude a talk with a call to action. We will also cover speaking from notes and establishing authority at the beginning of a talk.
The session will begin with the third practice presentation - a pitch or product demonstration. As before, they will get constructive feedback from the trainer and their peers. We will then look at a wide range of persuasive techniques that can be employed in a talk, and analyse a TED talk to see examples.
In the third session, participants will explore tips and tricks to enhance a PowerPoint slide deck, looking at good and bad examples. They will also examine the best ways to present information in graphical or chart format. They will then have some time to prepare their slides for the final presentation.
